The Pierer Mobility Group, the parent company of the popular motorcycle brands KTM and Husqvarna, is hard at work developing electric motorcycles and scooters. A while ago there was already news about a possible electric motorcycle from Husqvarna called E-Pilen. Last fall we also received the news that Husqvarna would be working on an electric scooter. At that time it still had the internal code name E-01. This week Husqvarna unveiled the Vektorr Concept. If we are to believe the rumors, this electric scooter – after some delay due to the Covid-19 pandemic – will be on the market in 2022.

Futuristic design

Some concept art of the Vektorr Concept has also been distributed, showing that it is being developed entirely as an electric scooter. It has a striking design with a streamlined body and flowing lines. The earlier prototype, the E-01, was even a bit reminiscent of a futuristic means of transport from space travel. If you look closely, you can see that behind this innovative design there is a real down-to-earth strategy. The color scheme of the Husqvarna Vektorr Concept, which will initially be launched in Europe, consists mainly of black, silver metallic and a touch of neon green. The name Vektorr is clearly visible on the side. Without ‘Draft’ so we can assume that this will be the final name.

Platform of Bajaj

Husqvarna has enlisted the help of the major Indian car manufacturer Bajaj Auto for the development of the electric scooter. This company has a majority stake in KTM. It is also only logical that the Pierer Mobility Group, which includes the KTM and Husqvarna brands, enlists the help of Bajaj. This company has been active in the field of electric scooters for some time. Chances are, therefore, that the Husqvarna Vektorr will get the same platform as the Bajaj Chetak, an electric scooter that is quite popular among commuters in India.

If the Vektorr indeed shares its platform with the Chetak, we can make a pretty good estimate of the specifications. We can then expect that the Husqvarna Vektorr will get an 11 kW electric motor. This means that the performance is about the same level as, for example, the Honda ADV 150 and the Yamaha NMAX. It has a maximum speed of 45 km/h and a range of 95 km. However, because of its electric drive, it will have much higher torque and a much more dynamic engine response than its combustion engine competitors.
